Talent Management (TM) Local Stakeholder Group

The London Leadership Academy facilitates the London Talent Management Stakeholder Network which meets bi-monthly, with the aim of creating space for a sharing and learning community. The Network can support your Talent Management thinking and help you to develop an approach that fits your organisation. If you are interested in joining please contact [email protected]

Managing our NHS Talent means supporting individuals who can make a positive difference to organisational performance and drive improvements in patient care. Importantly, TM is not a standalone concept but works as a ‘HR ecosystem’ to support organisational objectives and workforce strategy in an integrated and strategic way.

To facilitate this, London Leadership Academy is continuing to develop the strategic pan-London approach to TM.  The programme aims to spread and embed TM in collaboration with partners across the Capital health care system.

This will help us ensure;

  • the right people, in the right role, with the right values;
  • with access to the right opportunities, exposure, stretch and development to reach their potential; and
  • support the development of future leaders in the NHS

Talent Management is a process that focuses on the identification of potential to fill senior or critical roles in an organisation and more widely in the system.  It can cover all employees but more usually starts off by focusing on a subset of individuals, including:

  • The most senior positions
  • People with the ambition, skills and capability to hold or grow into critical roles

Professor Damian Hughes sums up Talent Management and puts forward a compelling idea about the Psychological Cage – “Expectation x Consequence = Potential” using leading behavioural principles, scientific analysis of the human behaviour whilst balancing it with a feel for human emotion. He then reinforces the importance of using a wider definition of Talent.  Watch his inspiring video form out 2014 Talent Management Conference: Talent – Who, When, Where, How?
