Inclusion Labs

We know that some trusts in London are lagging behind in relation to the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES) and overall that London has poorer results on inclusion than the rest of the country. The WRES is one way of identifying and understanding the cultural factors that might be adversely affecting equity and inclusion within an organisation. This intervention primarily uses the WRES framework to support trusts to both explore, understand and address some of this cultural dysfunctionality.

What do we mean by Inclusion labs?

An inclusion lab describes a trust that wants to address inclusion issues more actively, possibly because they are not doing as well as their counterparts. The intention is to ‘offer’ trusts the opportunity to work with Capital People – London Leadership Academy on an inclusion lab programme. Our approach however is designed to be ‘manageable ‘ so that trusts can assess benefits in stages and as a consequence may feel that they are making incremental progress.

The objectives of this event/approach are for:

  • Your organisations to be clearer about what their gaps in performance are in relation to inclusion and how they might go about addressing these
  • Your organisation to also be clearer about what works and will be supported to implement interventions that have a growing evidence base.
