What is this event about?
The aim of the event is to consider the question
“How do we develop independent thinking to enhance performance?” Participants are introduced to the ten components of a Thinking EnvironmentTM and consider the value they can bring to a variety of situations. Opportunities will be offered for participants to experience the creation of a quality thinking space with their peers.
What will it cover?
“The quality of everything we do depends on the quality of thinking we do first”.
Nancy Kline
Inspired by the work of Nancy Kline, Susie Phillips-Baker will facilitate an event giving you the
opportunity to consider and experience how to create a quality space in which your clients can do
their best thinking.
During this experiential CPD event you will:
● Consider key attributes for creating a quality Thinking EnvironmentTM, useful when
coaching, mentoring, in meetings or in your wider work and life.
● Experience quality thinking time to develop thoughts about a topic that is important to you.
● Practice your coaching / mentoring and create a quality thinking space for your client.
There will be opportunity for peer coaching / mentoring, to work with live topics and explore how
developing a Thinking EnvironmentTM can make a positive impact in your workplace.
Why should I attend?
● Appreciate the 10 Components of a Thinking EnvironmentTM, behaviours key to improving the
quality of thinking and the outcome of every interaction;
● Experience two or three applications that can be used to improve the quality of thinking and
performance;
● Practice skills to help other people think more clearly for themselves;
● Experience generative listening and develop your own thinking on a topic that is important to
you.
How will it run?
The session will be interactive, providing practical experience that participants will be able to use straight away. It will be facilitated using a combination of methods including group work, peer coaching and plenary discussions. Participants will be able to develop their thinking with reference to real topics they bring to the session.
Who will present?
Laura is a Thinking Environment Coach, Facilitator, Consultant, and sits on the Global Faculty for Time to Think teaching the leadership and coaching framework developed by Nancy Kline. Laura discovered the power of coaching through a realisation that what many of her roles had been missing was the right culture and strong, empowering leadership, and she made a decision to change this for other companies. She is passionate about ensuring that individuals both within and outside of organisations
have the opportunity to think well and so realise their potential, discover and live their values and play to their strengths, which brings motivation, energy and fulfilment, and a better business bottom line. Laura runs her own business and works with both large companies such as Heathrow, ASDA and Johnson & Johnson plus medium and smaller businesses, and entrepreneurs.
