Neurodiversity – Supporting, Recruiting & Managing Employees
The London Leadership Academy is pleased to present this workshop in Partnership with Enna. The workshop provides a great introduction to neurodiversity for managers at all levels, to help them understand how they can better support, recruit and manage their neurodivergent employees.
About the facilitator
Enna is an organisation that works closely with Neurodivergent job-seekers, to promote Neurodiversity and help organisations create an inclusive culture for Neurodiverse staff.
Section 1: Understanding neurodiversity
This section looks at neurodiversity in context. This involves looking at the definition of neurodiversity, what the neurodiversity movement is and where its come from, the key statistics to understand how many people are neurodivergent, and introducing the key types and how they fit together. We also start to look at the language and terminology used in order to facilitate effective conversations surrounding neurodiversity.
Section 2: Types of neurodiversity
We start this section with a truth or false exercise on Mentimeter. Participants can access the exercise on their phones, tablet or desktop. Using the sliding scales, we use this to separate the facts from the fiction.
We then continue by looking at the key types of neurodiversity including what percentage of the population have each type, what are the key components that make up each type (for example hyperactive and inattentive ADHD) and their associated strengths and challenges in the workplace from a management perspective.
We end by doing a quick dyslexia exercise, which involves unscrambling common questions in 60 seconds, to give people an insight into how dyslexic people may read and interpret information.
Section 3: Neuro-inclusive recruitment
This section focuses on recruitment, where we have a deep dive in how you can make your job descriptions more accessible, interview neurodivergent candidates and ensure you aren’t creating unnecessary barriers.
We follow this on by doing a reasonable adjustments exercise in break out rooms, whether participants can use their knowledge of reasonable adjustments to apply it to a real life scenario.
Section 4: Sharing and fostering an inclusive culture
This section talks about how managers can create and foster a neurodiversity friendly culture to reduce the stigma associated with neurodiversity and encourage employees to sharing and talk about their neurodiversity.
Section 5: Supporting and managing a neurodivergent individual
So you’ve recruited someone neurodivergent, but how do you actually manage and support them effectively? This section looks at management strategies and techniques, including giving feedback, communicating effectively and how you can understand and work to their strengths. Here we give managers practical resources, frameworks and tools manages can use to support them.
We end this section by doing a longer exercise through Miro, where we help managers apply what they’ve learnt to their roles and organisation.

We end the workshop with a Q&A – where we’re happy to answer any questions through the chat box or by unmuting.
