Storytelling Approach for Mentors
Mentors using personal story to powerfully share experience, build trust and connection
A key part of being an effective Mentor is being able to share your experience and learning in an engaging way through the stories you tell. Knowing how and when to tell a personal story will enable you to do this in way that connects you and your Mentee. It will also encourage your mentee to tell their own story. Sharing moments of experience opens the heart, creates mutual trust and makes the mentoring relationship powerful and effective
This series of practical workshops aims to help you mine, craft and edit your memories to find your stories and tell them authentically. They will help you structure a story and find the tools and language to bring it to life when you tell it. You will leave the sessions with a strong sense of who you are, a number of stories to share with your mentee and an understanding of how to encourage your mentees’ stories.
The workshops will comprise 3 sessions of 2.5 Hours
- Part One: Why stories work and how to find your own stories
- Part Two: The Art & Craft of Storytelling: tools & techniques to structure and enrich with imagery and language
- Part Three: Working with Mentees Stories: encouraging and coaching others’ stories
